Windstar Cruises -- Sailing the Costa del Sol
Although we have cruised the
Mediterranean in the past, our recent experience aboard
Windstar’s Wind Surf
was a very different experience.
The Windstar passenger sees the world from a romantic sailing ship, with luxurious accommodations, a casual yet elegant atmosphere, and exquisite service and cuisine. The 308-passenger Wind Surf was an ideal base for our week-long venture along the Costa del Sol of Spain and the Cote D’Azure of France. Large accommodations, including a flat-screen TV and DVD/CD player (and a large borrowing library of music and movies), sumptuous dining, progressive spa facilities and offerings, and billowing white sails that unfurled in two minutes at the push of a button all made for an exceptional cruise (and Mediterranean experience).
Our travels took us to unique
and, often unfamiliar, ports of call including: Cueta, Spanish Morocco (with
an optional shore excursion to Rif), the vibrant nightlife of Ibiza, Spain;
history-rich Palma de Mallorca, bustling Barcelona, the ‘Venice of
France’ in Sete, France; and Marseille. The shore excursions offered
by Windstar were plentiful and creative, including a half-day tour of Antoni
Gaudi’s architecture throughout Barcelona that we found fascinating.
