Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Magic -- Were We Goofy?

Although we don’t have kids, we consider ourselves kids at heart. Which explains how we found ourselves aboard Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Magic over the Spring Break/Easter holiday. When people found out about our trip, they asked us if we were completely goofy?

We weren’t--we had one of our favorite cruise experiences of all time. Not only were the ports of call (St. Thomas, St. Maarten, and Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay) a great place to be in March, the ship offers more ‘adults-only’ opportunities than any other line we’ve experienced.

Some of these enhancements included: an adults-only pool area, with two whirlpool jets and an open-air bar; Cove Cafe which offers adults a place to relax over gourmet coffees, specialty drinks, with popular magazines and books, Internet access, television and music (using headphones); Palo, an intimate adults-only specialty restaurant offering northern Italian cuisine nightly; and a secluded mile-long ‘quiet’ beach on their private island that features a separate bar, grilled lunch, and open-air massages in private beach cabanas overlooking the sea. The ship also offers many ‘Disney Entertaining’ and ‘Behind the Scenes’ educational programs that are generally limited to passengers 18 and over (we loved the cooking classes!).

In addition to all the amenities that cater to the ‘adults’, the standard cabins are a good bit larger than those on most other ships due to the fact that most of the cabins are occupied by families of 3, 4 and even up to six passengers.

And, although we thought the focus on adult’s was amazing, we were also blown away by the amount and quality of children’s and family activities including: Disney-style shows and productions; Disney character appearances and autograph sessions; state-of-the-art children’s programs (it’s Disney....what else would you expect); and creative dining venues and menus that would appeal to even the pickiest of eaters, young or old.

No....we definitely weren’t goofy to sail on a Disney ship. And we highly recommend it for families, extended families, family reunions, and even childless couples like us.
