GREENVILLE, SOUTH CAROLINA--EUPHORIC OVER EUPHORIA
This past weekend marked
the fifth helping of
Euphoria in
Greenville, SC. Founded in 2006
by platinum-selling singer and songwriter (and local boy)
Edwin McCain and restaurateur and co-owner
of Table 301, Carl Sobocinski, Euphoria
is a weekend-long celebration of fine food, perfect wine pairings, and music
that moves your soul.
This years menu consisted of first-time event Euphoria Unplugged to kick off the event Thursday night with an acoustic singer/songwriter in-the-round concert featuring Edwin McCain and friends at the new Children's Museum of the Upstate. Friday featured Taste of the South under the stars in downtown along the soothing currents of the Reedy River. Listening to live music by Edwin McCain with Shawn Colvin and Maia Sharp, dining on a full array of Southern Dishes from a selection of the Upstate's finest restaurants, and pairing it with your favorite beverage, Taste of the South was the perfect evening.
Saturday's events featured
a Tasting Showcase of wines from around the world, gourmet sampling, cooking
demonstrations by 2009 Top Chef runner-up Bryan Voltaggio, Kevin Rathbun
of Atlanta culinary fame, 2010 James Beard winner Mike Lata of FIG in Charleston,
and Justin Bogle of Michelin Guide two-starred GILT in NYC, wine seminars
with varied Master Sommeliers, and spectacular wine dinners around town pairing
local chefs with national guest chefs.
Sunday's Jazz Brunch closed out the weekend with a spectacular buffet of crab cakes, shrimp and grits, smoked duck potato hash, and other brunch specialities accompanied by the cool sounds of jazz trumpeter Mark Rapp and saxophonist Walter Blanding.
Euphoria was a cornucopia of food, wine, and music that educated, enticed, enlightened, and entertained. And if that wasn't enough, all proceeds from Euphoria fund Local Boys Do Good, a 501c(3) charity created by founders McCain and Sobocinski to support the community and benefit local non-profit organizations.
