GREENVILLE, SOUTH CAROLINA --
EUPHORIA: A HIGHER STATE OF FOOD, WINE AND MUSIC

Food and wine festivals have become a hugely popular way for destinations to showcase their local chefs and restaurants and to celebrate their regional foods and wines. Since travel, food, and wine are three of our favorite things, we’ve dedicated ourselves to becoming somewhat self-appointed experts in the category (see our recent feature on the Top 10 Food and Wine Festivals on ForbesTraveler.com.

One recent food and wine festival that blew us away was Euphoria in Greenville, South Carolina. Pioneered by local restaurateur Carl Sobicinski and musician Edwin McCain three years ago, Euphoria kicks up the traditional food & wine festival a notch with the addition of music to the platter.

Kicking off the event was the live performance of national recording artist and Grammy nominee, Chris Issak. That was followed by an opening party featuring dishes from several Greenville restaurants, wine tastings, and music by Charleston-based recording artists The Blue Dogs and Greenville’s own Edwin McCain. Add to this the popular ‘Taste of the South’ event, multi-course wine dinners, cooking demonstrations by local chefs (including Greenville’s own Tyler Florence), Iron-Chef-style cooking competitions with local chefs and nationally acclaimed chefs from Atlanta, Chicago, and Las Vegas, wine seminars and tastings from around the globe, and the traditional Sunday Jazz brunch, and you’ve got the ingredients for a tasty weekend.

And the fact that all of this takes place in Greenville’s charming and nationally-recognized revitalized downtown is a plus. From walking to all of the events to having fantastic shopping and dining at your fingertips between events, it was a perfect event to showcase the destination of Greenville. We already have next year’s event on our calendar!
