Carnival Cruises the Old Country
Carnival
Cruise Line sailed into the Old Country this past spring with a new ship
and an exciting new European itinerary for the 'Fun Ship' line. We recently
sailed on the Carnival Freedom on her 12-day "Grand Mediterranean"
itinerary (they are also doing a 12-day "Mediterranean and Greek Isles" option)
and were treated to the luxurious amenities of Carnival's fifth Conquest-class
ship (including the new Carnival Comfort Bed system, fine dining, varied
entertainment and production shows, and enhanced wi-fi and cellular service
throughout the ship), along with the exciting ports of call that only the
Mediterranean can provide.
Ports of call included the
historic town of Naples, with the fascinating ruins of Pompeii (as well as
the delicious Neapolitan-style pizza), an overnight in the romantic canal
city of Venice (including the must-do gondola ride), the centuries-old trading
center of Dubrovnik, Croatia, the Greek Theater and Mt. Etna out of Messina,
Sicily, the throngs of tourists and locals alike along Las Ramblas and the
artistry of Antonio Gaudi in Barcelona, the beaches and upscale French lifestyle
of Cannes, and the art museums of Florence (along with the ubiquitous Leaning
Tower of Pisa) out of Livorno, Italy.
So much culture and history....and only having to unpack once. That's a new Carnival ship in the Old Country.
