Hilton Head Islands Sea Pines Resort now offers
Inn at Harbour Town and renovated Harbour Town Golf Links
There are two new reasons to head to South Carolinas golf mecca, Hilton Head Island, as soon as possible.
The first is the October grand opening of the Inn at Harbour Town, a luxury 60-room inn. It overlooks the second reason--the just-opened Harbour Town Golf Links that was completely restored and renovated by original co-designer, Pete Dye.
The complete story
A
Hilton Head Island (and Sea Pines) golf vacation is now better than ever,
thanks to these two openings.
Patterned after the small luxury hotels of Europe and mixed with the Lowcountry feel of the South Carolina coastline, bookings at the Inn at Harbour Town already indicate the success of the concept. Villas and private homes have always been the hallmark of a Sea Pines vacation, but this additional option appeals to many visitors--with 24-hour room service and butlers assigned to each guest. Other amenities include virtually every room amenity imaginable, complimentary valet parking, afternoon tea, a library, turndown services, and many other European-style surprises.
From the balconies, guests overlook the legendary Harbour Town Golf Links. The course is better than ever, according to Dye, who originally built the course with Jack Nicklaus in 1969. Its been the host of a PGA Tour event every year since, but its now better than ever.
Dye restored the layout and rebuilt the greens, bunkers, tee boxes, and drainage systems, but he kept the basic design characteristics intact--tight tree-lined fairways and smaller than average greens. He did lengthen some holes slightly.
The new inn and restoration of Harbour Town Golf Links are parts of the Sea Pines five-year plan to keep the world-renowned resort at the forefront of the golf vacation community. Theyre off to a great start.
