New daily fee layouts near L.A. offer unmatched convenience and luxury
Robinson Ranch, just 25 miles north of the Los Angeles city limits, offers two new public layouts and a momentary (and, some golfers would say, magical) break from the areas tense freeways.
The golf experience also promises duffers the kind of luxurious amenities and pampering generally associated with world-class resort destinations like Palm Springs.
The complete story
Designed by acclaimed golf course architects Ted Robinson Sr. and Ted Robinson Jr., Robinson Ranch represents the father-and-son teams sixth joint effort and the first golf property they have designed and owned. The elder Robinson has designed more than 170 courses worldwide during his storied career, while Ted Robinson Jr. joined his father after a successful career in commercial real estate.
The Mountain Course, which opened earlier this year, is a shotmakers delight that emphasizes accuracy and placement over length. The Valley Courses breathtakingly natural setting requires greater distance off the tees and, after its recent opening, promises to become one of Southern Californias more promising tracks. Bordering the Angeles National Forest, Robinson Ranch serves as a passage for deer, bobcats, coyote, and even bear, meaning golfers are as likely to be delayed by wildlife watching as looking for wild shots.
Green fees range from $85 Monday through Thursday and $115 on Friday through Sunday and during holidays. Golfers not playing the course can purchase a $20 pass that allows all-day access to the practice facility. Though already offering upscale golfer services and a temporary clubhouse, a new clubhouse will open early next year, with a restaurant, locker rooms, lounges, meeting space, and more.
Robinson Ranch starting times, with twelve minute intervals, provide a playing atmosphere rarely experienced outside exclusive private country clubs.
The 400-acre complex represent a drive of no more than 30 minutes from downtown Los Angeles, Pasadena, and the heart of the San Fernando Valley, with most drives moving against the traffic.
