Big changes at Atlanta-area golf resort
Lake Lanier Islands Resort has always been a popular getaway for many Atlanta-area golfers and others in search of a convenient lakefront retreat.
However, many recent changes at the resort have made it worthwhile for golfers to travel from further afield. Since assuming management of Lake Lanier Islands in 1997, KSL Recreation Corporation has made more than $20 million in capital improvements.
The complete story
Located 30 minutes north Atlanta and just 45 minutes from Hartsfield International Airport, Lake Lanier Islands Resort is experiencing a renaissance on and off the links. This year alone, more than $5 million was already spent to complete another phase of a major master improvement plan for the resort.
The Hilton Resorts guestrooms received a total rehabilitation that better reflect the wooded beauty of the hotels lakeside locale. One of the hotels restaurants features a new menu and look, while the fitness center also has a new look (including a tranquillity garden).
These enhancements crown those made over the past two years at the hotel, including a new lobby, restaurant renovations, a new Grand Ballroom and increase meeting space, landscaping and waterfalls at the entrance, and much more.
Nearby, Harbor Landing (their marina) has upgraded its rental fleet with the addition of 23 new boats. Ten new ski boats and 12 houseboats also modernize what is already the lakes largest fleet. The Island Princess, a 100-passenger luxury excursion boat, was also added.
Finally, guests to Lake Lanier Islands Resort are now greeted with a new front entrance, accentuated by stacked stone tollbooths, wrought iron gates, new signage, and dramatic lighting, giving the resort a new grand sense visiting golfers deserve.
