Maui resort offers free golf clinics

The Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa is offering free golf clinics every Monday and Friday afternoon to all resort guests. The resort’s golf (and tennis) pro, Kaz Yamanoha, offers valuable swing analysis at each clinic.

Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the resort features 36 holes of great Hawaiian golf at the nearby Ka’anapali Golf Courses.

The complete story

Great for beginners and high handicappers, Kaz’s clinics are known to catch swing flaws and provide immediate results over at the Ka’anapali layouts. The clinics cater to the level of the group (typically small) and he swing analysis can range from drivers to irons to chipping.

Over at the Ka’anapali Golf Courses, you can try out your new and improved swing on two of Hawaii’s finest layouts. The rolling fairways run through lush foliage, with stunning mountain views provided to golfers who can stop concentrating on the lessons provided by Kaz Yamanoha.

Designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr., Ka’anapali North provides a challging experience, with more than 80 bunkers (not including a beach running the entire length of the 14th fairway. Ka’anapali South, designed by Arthur Jack Snyder, offers narrow fairways that demand accuracy. Open every day of the year, Hyatt guests get special tee times.

Besides great golf (and golf clinics), a $20 million renovation is marking the resort’s anniversary. The upcoming July 21st grand opening of the multi-million-dollar spa led to a name change from Hyatt Regency Maui to Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa. The new name indicated a promotion of the resort’s status in the Hyatt organization.

Other planned improvements include a new Hospitality lounge, the relocation of the Camp Hyatt children’s program, a new sports bar-themed restaurant, and enhancements for the $3,000-a-night Presidential Suite (that’s a lot of rounds of golf!).

Upon arrival at the luxury 40-acre 806-room resort, golfing guests feel like they have entered another world. Lush gardens, waterfalls, ponds, and Pacific Ocean views set the stage for a tropical golf vacation.

Along with great golf, other resort amenities include a half-acre pool oasis, six tennis courts, four restaurants, and outdoor theater/luau area, guided wildlife, art, and garden tours, a Hawaiiana program (nightly torchlighting, lei exhibit, cultural activities, and more), Aloha Friday (demonstrations and handmade crafts), a very popular Camp Hyatt, catamaran tours, a rooftop astronomy program, and many other options for resort guests. The beach activity center rents snorkeling equipment, boogie boards, surfboards, sailboats, and kayaks. Lessons for surfing, windsurfing, and sailing are available within steps of the resort (there’s a free introductory scuba diving lesson poolside daily).

But the best ‘lesson’ may still be the free golf clinics on Mondays and Fridays. Just be sure you book your golf vacation to include one of these days!
