Scottsdale’s Camelback Golf Club Completes $16 Million Renovation

Camelback Golf Club in Scottsdale recently completed a huge enhancement project that included a complete re-design of the popular Padre Course, as well as an expanded clubhouse, pro shop, and restaurant. Part of Marriott’s Camelback Inn Resort, Golf Club and Spa, the golf is better than ever.

The complete story

Better than ever for golfers

The extensive renovation of the Resort course (now renamed the Resort Course) was designed and managed by the renowned Arthur Hills. During his career, Arthur Hills has designed more than 150 new courses and renovated another 100, including classics like Inverness, Oakmont, and Oakland Hills.

The finished product is a classic course design, with strategic bunkering to require accuracy and traditional square tees, rather than the more common rectangular configuration. Every hole features a new green, tees, and bunkers. While some holes maintained their original routing, others were re-routed to increase the overall playability and appeal. In addition, the course was lengthened by 300 yards and three new lakes were added to create additional beauty and challenge.

The new clubhouse features an expanded pro shop and restaurant (including a popular exhibition-style kitchen for diners to watch the chefs in action), a new state-of-the-art practice ranges, and a permanent outdoor pavilion for groups and tournament guests. In addition, less intrusive silent beepers notify guests of their tee times.

The Resort Course is unique in Arizona’s desert setting, in that it offers large mature trees and lush green turf. Camelback Golf Club’s other course, the Club Course, features rolling terrain, secluded sand traps, and tree-lined fairways.

Marriott’s Camelback Inn is the ideal base for golf and everything else around the Phoenix/Scottsdale area.
