Great summer golf at Shanty Creek

After a partial season that brought additional accolades to Northern Michigan golf, Cedar River is ready for a full season of great summer golf, with the opening scheduled for April 28th. Cedar River joins Arnold Palmer’s The Legend and two other courses to make Shanty Creek an ideal Northern Michigan golf travel base.

The Cedar River layout is the first Weiskopf design in this golf-crazy state. It is a traditional layout, with wide landing areas, huge bunkers, and large greens with playable openings in the front.

The highlights of the course include holes 13 and 14. Number 13 is a short 300-yard par four that plays along the Cedar River, including a two-plateau fairway. The 14th is a dramatic par three that takes visiting golfers downhill to a pretty green tucked into a bend in the river. From the tee, the dramatic vista provides a view of holes in all directions.

Shanty Creek is comprised of three separate villages: Cedar River Village, Summit Village, and Schuss Village. There are more than 600 various accommodations options, with Cedar River Golf Club and the new Lodge at Cedar River providing the centerpiece of new development. The Lodge at Cedar River features 85 suites and overlooks the 18th hole and lake.
