Hemisphere's Magazine....
MAKE YOUR OWN MENAGERIE
After a day of romping
around deck or exploring an exciting port, can returning to your cabin actually
be fun? It can be, if you have a towel animal waiting for you. On several
cruise lines--Carnival and Disney are particularly known for it--attendants
are taught to transform plain, white towels into fluffy fun, using sunglasses,
hats, and other travel paraphenalia as props. These fanciful towel
animals have become such a tradition aboard Carnival Fun Ships--seven million
created annually--that a book is now available for passengers who want to
create their own back home. Carnival Towel Creations ($12.95) features
step-by-step instructions and accompanying photos for more than 40 designs,
including cats, dogs, elephants, and dinosaurs. The 88-page book is available
in Carnival shops or directly from stateroom stewards, who obviously know
their tricks and treats.
