Experience the Provision Co.

Whether you’re heading north or south on the Intracoastal Waterway (and maybe even if you’re crossing the Atlantic), you’re sure to hear about Southport’s Yacht Basin Provision Co. as you near North Carolina. Located right on the Intracoastal in the southeastern corner of the state, the Provision Co. has become somewhat of a boater’s Mecca.

This restaurant and bar provides an atmosphere (and experience) that’s become legendary with boaters in the know. It’s a combination of little things that add up to a unique vibe that boaters love.

Once docked, a typical experience at the Provision Co. starts with grabbing your own drinks (it’s an honor system). Then you stand in a little line to order your food from the counter (be careful, because they keep a list of stupid questions--”Is there any ham in your hamburger?”).

After giving your name at the counter, your food is quickly cranked out from the tiny kitchen and delivered to your outdoor table by friendly waitresses who yell out your name until you claim your food. Provision Co. favorites include steamed shrimp, a great grouper salad sandwich, freshly-made chowder (spring and fall only),
and some seriously tasty hamburgers without a hint of ham!
