Jefferson Hotel....
A WEDDING WITH
(G)ROOM SERVICE
Our
small wedding was proceeding as planned. Every contingency concerning the
ceremony had been considered. The palatial presidential suite in Richmond,
Virginia's historic Jefferson Hotel was the perfect place to get married
. We had just taken our places under the Chuppah.
Then, there was a knock at the hotel room door. "Room service," a voice confidently called from the hallway. "Would you like your bed turndown service now?"
The ceremony came to a grinding halt and the rabbi stopped speaking as she repeated the knock and question. Our mistress of ceremonies rushed to the door and quickly requested turndown service a bit later in the evening.
With the quiet closing of the door and a few giggles, our service continued without a flaw. With the crunch of the glass, our life together began. But everyone present that night laughingly remembers the (g)room service provided to us at our wedding.
